Why I do what I do:
- At least once a day I get to say “you like swimming? ME TOO!”
- I get to shop for toys and pick out the cutest ones to use in my lessons
- I get SO MANY HIGH FIVES GUYS YOU HAVE NO IDEA
- Almost everyone I see tells me their favorite color.
- At least twice a week someone asks me to pretend I’m a mermaid, and WE ALL DESERVE TO BE MERMAIDS OK
- did you know that talking about sharks never gets old? Not ever.
- There are a lot more cute swim suits than I’ll ever own, and I get to see them all.
Those are all reasons I have the best job in the world. They are great, but NOT ONE can top that moment every student has when they really, really understand that they can swim. Students of every age fill with excitement.
- “I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
- “I never thought I’d do this.”
- “I LOVE SWIMMING.”
It’s amazing. I am amazed that I get to do this every day.
